  1. Start With a Good Skincare Routine

Make sure your skin is clean, exfoliated, moisturized, and well-prepped before applying makeup. This will help your makeup look smoother and last longer. We offer skincare recommendations, plans and support for all of our San Jose, San Francisco, and Bay Area brides and to-be-weds!

We are OBSESSED with the Sonia Roselli Sexapeel. OMG! You can use it on your entire body.

  1. Choose a Lightweight, Natural-Looking Foundation

Look for a foundation that matches your skin tone and provides a natural, luminous finish. Avoid heavy, full-coverage foundations that can look cakey or mask your natural beauty. Skin tints will be your best bet!

I am a personal fan of the Danessa Myricks Vision Cream as it’s highly pigmented, allowing it to be versatile and lightweight. a little goes a VERY long way and is extra gorgeous with a drop of the Danessa Myricks beauty oil. Apply with the Real Techniques Setting Brush then use a beauty sponge to press the product into the skin and remove any excess. The Beautycounter Better Blender is my favorite sponge- the flat side with the point really helps to get under the eye.

  2. Use a Light Hand with Concealer

If you have any blemishes or dark circles you want to cover, use a small amount of concealer and blend it well. Avoid using too much, as this can make your skin look unnatural.

Another reason why the Danessa Myricks VCC is my personal favorite is that it can also be used as a concealer! Meaning, fewer products to purchase and learn. If you want it to be lighter, you can grab the white colorfix from Danessa. This also makes your concealer waterproof!

  3. Keep Your Eye Makeup Simple

For a natural look, opt for a light eyeshadow in a neutral shade and a thin line of eyeliner to define the eye and help make your lashes look more full without being the center of attention.

Use individual, lightweight lashes (we love these “fishtail” individual lashes from Amazon in 9, 11, and 13 mm). Apply a light coat of black-brown mascara to “marry” your lashes to the falsies and make them look even more natural.

  4. Use a Natural-Looking Blush

Choose a blush in a soft, rosy shade and apply it to the apples of your cheeks for a natural-looking flush. I’m newly obsessed with the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Encourage. (A little goes a long way!) For an EXTRA natural appearance, blend the blush with your foundation prior to applying. Then, apply in all areas you naturally get flush or warm from the sun.

  5. Choose a Neutral Lip Color

A sheer, moisturizing lip gloss or a neutral lipstick shade will give your lips a natural, healthy look. Avoid bold, bright colors or matte lipsticks, which can look too heavy for a natural wedding day makeup look.

We are about to launch our own lipstick line that is all of these things - stay tuned on our socials @kimbakerbeauty on Instagram and TikTok to find your perfect match. 😉

  6. Set Your Makeup with a Light Dusting of Setting Powder

If your foundation and concealer are not self-setting, this will help your makeup stay in place and prevent shine throughout the day. We also recommend a setting spray like the Mehron Barrier Spray for extra-long wear, especially in hot and humid weather. If you are someone who sweats a lot, apply it after skin prep AND after makeup is complete. But be sure not to do more oil control and as may actually create MORE oil when your skin is trying to balance itself out.

  7. Don't Forget to Test Your Makeup

It's important to test your wedding day makeup before the big day to make sure everything looks the way you want it to. This will also give you a chance to make any necessary adjustments. Kim Baker Beauty includes trials in our Signature wedding experience to make sure we can achieve the look you want.
