Use A Setting Spray

To help your makeup last longer, use a setting spray to lock in your makeup and prevent it from melting or smudging. Your artist will ask you questions about your skin and choose a setting spray the fits your skin type and products.

Blot Your Skin

If you start to get shiny, blot your skin with a tissue or oil-absorbing blotting paper to remove excess oil and prevent your makeup from sliding off.

Bring Touch-Up Products

To be honest, most of our clients never touchup except for maybe their lipstick or lap balm.

However, if you’re nervous, pack a small bag with some essential touch-up products, such as a powder compact, a tube of lipstick, and a small bottle of setting spray. This will allow you to make quick touch-ups throughout the night. Although, most of our clients (myself included) never touch up and are overjoyed with how their makeup and hair lasts. We do provide a small touch up kit for all of our San Jose, San Francisco and Bay Area wedding day clients, though!

Keep Your Hair In Place

Properly prep your hair. We love the Kenra heat protectant for protection and hold. Use hairspray or a light hold hair gel to keep your hairstyle in place. If you’re getting married in a place with humidity, opt for a weather proof spray. Big Sexy has a great one! Finally, Avoid using too much product, as this can make your hair feel heavy and greasy.

Avoid Touching Your Face

Try to resist the urge to touch your face or hair throughout the night, as this can transfer oil and sweat onto your skin and hair, causing your makeup to break down.

Your preview will give you a really good idea of how your makeup and hair will last. Try to book your preview earlier in the day around the same time you would be getting your makeup and hair done on your wedding day 2-6 weeks prior to the wedding day.
